YOUNG GERMAN WHEELCHAIR USER WITH SPINAL CORD INJURY GOES VIRAL AFTER MANAGING TO WALK WITH NEUROMUSCULAR SUIT
At 19, German creator Emelie (emelieetr on TikTok) is reaching millions with her videos, especially one where she stands up from her wheelchair * and walks for the first time using a device called the Mollii Suit.
Made by Remotion, the suit uses low-frequency electrical impulses to reduce spasticity and help people with incomplete spinal cord injuries move again.
In her case, a T11/T12 injury.
The suit is designed to stimulate specific muscles through 58 electrodes, helping improve movement without surgery or medication. In Emelie's viral video, now with over 34 million views, you can see her take steady steps in the suit, which costs around €9000 and is not yet widely available outside Europe.
Emelie raised the money for the suit through a campaign on her social channels. She's not cured, but she can now stand, walk short distances, and go outside on her own.
She reminds her audience that recovery isn't a straight line, but science and smart new tech are making it possible.
