Secretariat Lift in Port Harcourt Shut Down Over Safety Concerns

The secretary lift at the Rivers State Secretariat in Port Harcourt has reportedly been shut down temporarily due to persistent malfunctions and safety concerns. The decision to halt its operation is believed to be a precautionary measure aimed at protecting users from potential accidents.

Sources suggest the closure may be linked to the age of the elevatorfrequent breakdowns, and possibly delayed repairs or plans for full replacement. While no official statement has been released yet, staff and visitors have been advised to use alternative stairways and lifts where available.

According to internal reports, the shutdown could last for several months, depending on the extent of maintenance or overhaul required.

This situation highlights the urgent need for infrastructure upgrades within public facilities to ensure safety and ease of access for government workers and the general public alike.
