More Cows, Less Milk: Why Nigeria’s Dairy Industry Lags Behind Despite Its Massive Cattle Population" 🐄🐄🐄

 

In 2023, Nigeria 🇳🇬 had 21 Million Cattle, ranking 16th in the World and 6th in Africa

Netherlands 🇳🇱 was home to 3.7 Million Cattle, which was about 6 times less than Nigeria 

In the same year, Nigeria 🇳🇬 Produced about 527 Million Liters of Milk, while Netherlands 🇳🇱 Produced 14.7 Billion Liters 

That is, Netherlands Production was nearly 28 Times more than Nigeria's Production, yet Nigeria had nearly 6 Times more Cattle than Netherlands 

In Nigeria 🇳🇬 the highest population of Cattle are the low yield whose Production is roughly 2.3 Liters per day;

In Netherlands, the highest share of the Cattle are the high yield whose average Production is about 29 Liters per day

Netherlands 🇳🇱 generated nearly 10 Billion USD from the Milk Industry, while Nigeria 🇳🇬 imported Milk Products worth nearly 560 Million USD
