Angola and Mozambique sign five new cooperation agreements

Cooperation between Angola and Mozambique was strengthened this Friday, 16 May, in Luanda, with the signing of five new legal instruments, which aim to boost the key sectors of development of both countries.


The signing act, which took place at the Presidential Palace, was witnessed by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, and his Mozambican counterpart, Presidente Daniel Chapo, who is making an official visit to Angola for two days.


Here's a concise summary of the developments:

The agreements cover:


1. Air Services – Enhancing air connectivity and bilateral ties.


2. Merchant Navy, Ports and Maritime Cooperation – Strengthening marine and port operations and training.


3. Social Action and Gender Equality – Promoting shared social policies and training.


4. Cultural Exchange (2025–2028) – Supporting joint initiatives in arts and heritage.


5. Tourism Cooperation – Expanding mutual opportunities in the tourism sector.


Both presidents stressed the need for actionable implementation and ongoing monitoring through a dedicated technical committee.


This initiative brings the total number of cooperation instruments between the two countries to 38 since 1978.
