Kate Henshaw * : I Didn't Leave My Marriage Because I Was Weak, I Left Because I Wanted to Live.

Kate Henshaw🚨: I Didn’t Leave My Marriage Because I Was Weak, I Left Because I Wanted to Live. I got married in 1999. A year later, we welcomed a beautiful daughter into the world. But behind closed doors, love didn’t live in that house. By 2011, I was empty. I had nothing left to give to a marriage that gave me nothing back. He chose the streets. He chose late nights, other women, chaos. And every time I tried to speak my pain, he silenced me with shouting, breaking things, with a rage that swallowed the peace in our home. I stayed too long, wearing a brave face, dying inside. But one day, I chose peace over pretense. I chose silence over screaming. I chose me. Leaving wasn’t a breakdown, it was a breakthrough. I rebuilt from the ashes. I poured my pain into purpose. My healing became my glow. Divorce didn’t break me. It became the door to the strongest version of myself  —Kate Henshaw ❤️ #KateHenshaw  #WomenWhoChoosePeace #StrongerAfterDivorce #BBNaija #BBNS10 #BBNaij...

"Nigerian parents don't chastise children who contribute financially to the family

Image
"Growing up in Nigeria, I learned one thing quick  once you start bringing money home, everything changes. Before I made it with music, I was just the youngest in the house. My opinions didn’t really count. You know how Nigerian parents are they love you, but they believe children should stay in their place. But the moment I started contributing, even just small, the whole vibe shifted. Suddenly, I wasn’t “too young” to talk. They started listening more, respecting my decisions, even asking for my thoughts. That’s because Nigerian parents value effort. They see when you’re trying, when you’re carrying part of the load. It’s not just about the money  it’s about showing that you’re serious. That’s how it works here. If you’re helping the family, they won’t chastise you like before. They treat you different. Even if you’re the last born, money and responsibility will make them see you in a new light. – Rema

S'Africa overtakes Nigeria as Africa's top fuel importer - Report

Image
hausaroom Nigeria has relinquished its long-held position as Africa's largest importer of refined petroleum products following the ramp-up of operations at the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery, a new report has stated. South Africa has now overtaken Nigeria as the continent's largest fuel importer, according to new data from energy consultancy CITAC, signalling a seismic shift in Africa's downstream oil market. The refinery, which began large-scale production in early 2024, is already disrupting established trade flows across sub-Saharan Africa and reshaping the continent's energy dynamics. With a refining capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the largest single-train refinery in the world, its rising output is sharply reducing Nigeria's dependence on petrol imports. The latest figures released by an energy consultancy, CITAC, on Wednesday, showed that Nigeria imported 3.1 million metric tones of refined petroleum products in the first quarter of 2025. In contra...

Black leaders see politics at play in Maryland governor's reparations veto

Image
BALTIMORE — Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s veto of a bill related to reparations payments for the descendants of slaves has raised eyebrows among some Black leaders in Baltimore. Moore vetoed Senate Bill 587 on May 16, which would have launched a two-year study into whether the state should provide reparations to those affected by the state’s history of slavery and inequality. In a letter explaining the veto, Maryland’s first Black governor wrote that he supports the work of the proponents but does not believe it’s the right “time for another study.” Rev. Dr. Robert Turner, senior pastor at Baltimore’s Empowerment Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, said his initial reaction to the veto was “great disappointment.” Members of his congregation have “been praying their whole lives” for some way to address historic injustices, Turner told The Baltimore Sun. Turner, who led marches calling on President Joe Biden to sign an executive order establishing a federal reparations commissio...
